There is a software download available, in the UK and elsewhere, costs around £19.50 for the full download, called folder marker,
This can be found in most search engines, I have a licensed copy, so can use this alternative folder marker protocol, it puts a extra command into the right click options menu, so offers a fast more direct wrought, to change folder colour, There is also a completely free, ICO FX, ICON editor, this has many good features, and tools to both make and edit folder icons, go HERE to the link for the free download, It is a good idea, before you start, to import, or download folder icons, or make these your self, to create a ICON folder to place in your “my documents” folder, so when you start the change icon process, you know were your new icons are, when you click the browse button in the above instructions,
Folder Marker Pro, software can be purchased in the UK and elsewhere at this link, If on the site you click buy now, the next page offers a currency select drop list, [GBP] for UK,

Recommendation:-
In practice, if you change an icon, [folder] [or others] outside the windows DLL32 system, it should be noted, the change will return to windows default, were it applies, if you later move the ICON source, [folder] to another location, this changes the file path,
So before you change folders or other icons, it is a good idea, to first locate your new icons folder to a systems point, I personally recommend to open “C” drive folder, and paste it here, for both updates, and a Source point, [file path point] were it is unlikely to be accidentally removed or changed, after this you can add any new icons, and changes will remain in place, furthermore, if you have more than one computer, and interchange data, put a copy if your new icons folder in “C” drive, to each computer, so all icon changes show correctly,
