Optimizing, or resizing images is important, this page sets out to show how and why,
Many methods are available to use, my own choice, and by far the simplest, is the ACD software program, any version, but why do we need to know how to do this, foremost is a need to downsize large pictures before we attach to Email pages, for this reason, mainly to save memory space, and for faster uploading / downloading, also make sure the images are set or saved as jpg’s rather than bmp, bmp has a much higher pixel density, so has a very large memory content, unlike jpg, much less dense pixel format,
Images sent via Email should be resized to around 60-100kbt size, so lets concentrate on the ACD program for now,
If your digital camera is set to take large images, [often best for editing] they may well be either BMP or JPG file type, so to send these as they come off the camera will be far too big for sensible email images, hence the need to downsize with as little loss as possible, my own experience has show that ACD is both quick, and shows little loss in the process, down to 500pxl wide in the resize box, but doing this remember to save as a new image, to not loose the original size image, best save to a new folder [ call it temporary or such like]
Resize of images better known as optimize process, can be done in most paint type programs, there is plenty of photo optimizer programs out there if you want to use this type of resize program, these usually show the original at side of optimized image for comparison of color and pixel differences, shows also the image size in either pixel or kbt size, or both, as well as download times etc,
